Storage & Backup
Network storage and the NAS drives that go in it, for shared files, backups and camera footage.
How to choose
- Bays decide how far it grows
A 2-bay NAS mirrors two drives. Four or more bays let you add capacity later and survive a drive failure with RAID 5 or SHR.
- Use NAS-rated drives
IronWolf and WD Red drives are built for 24/7 operation and multi-drive vibration. Desktop drives aren't.
- A NAS is not a backup by itself
Keep a second copy off the box: another NAS, a USB drive you rotate, or cloud backup.
Network storage (NAS)
Synology and QNAP NAS for shared files, backups and camera footage, from 2-bay desktop units to 1U rackmount.
